the soundtrack of my childhood

Emotional Freddie

There is one sound that takes me home immediately, no matter where I am in the world.

It is not a song. It is a voice.

my dad, the biggest fan i know

My father has been in love with Queen since before I was even born.

I grew up watching him close his eyes during certain songs, like the world outside just disappeared for three minutes.

Every car ride, every Sunday lunch, every long summer drive to the coast, Queen was always there in the background. It was never a choice, it was just our soundtrack.

the voice that changed everything

He used to tell me about Freddie Mercury like he was telling me about a mith, not a man.

He would say things like "there will never be another voice like that one, never" and I believed him completely, even before I understood why.

Freddie had this power to go from something soft and fragile to something explosive and huge, all in the same song. My dad always said that was not just talent, that was soul.

I think what moved me most, listening to my father talk, was not just the music. It was watching a grown man still get emotional over an artist from another era.

That told me something. Real art does not expire.

the songs that raised me

Of course there is Bohemian Rhapsody. That one needs no introduction, it is basically sacred in my house.

But if you really want to understand my father's heart, you have to listen to Love of My Life too. It is softer, more intimate, almost like a secret whispered instead of sung.

And then there is Somebody to Love, which honestly gives me chills every single time, especially live. The way the emotion builds is just unmatched.

There is also a smaller one, 39, that people often forget. It sounds almost like a folk song, gentle and a bit melancholic, and my dad loves it precisely because it feels hidden, like a little treasure only true fans know.

why this music is eternal

When I listen to these songs now, I am not just listening to music.

I am listening to every summer evening on the terrace, every time my dad sang badly but happily in the kitchen, every memory we built together without even trying.

That is the thing about real art. It does not just entertain you, it becomes part of your personal history.

Queen will always represent something bigger than nostalgia for me. It represents inheritance, the emotional kind, the kind you cannot buy anywhere.

And I think that is the most luxurious thing a parent can give you. Not things. Just a feeling, passed down through a melody.

tell me the truth

Which song do you associate with a parent, or with your childhood home?

And is there a hidden Queen song, one that not everyone knows, that deserves more love?

Tell me everything in the comments. 🎶
